Workshop: Introduction to Yarn Dyeing – 2024 dates

If you love colour and love yarn, then you’ll love this workshop from Peak District Yarns. You will learn how to read hand dyed yarns and how they look knitted up.  You will learn the basics of colour theory and how acid dyes work on different yarn bases.  You will then design your perfect hand-dyed skein (choose either Merino DK or Merino Sock Yarn) and create it using a hand-painted technique using pre-mixed dyes.  You will then see a demo of another dyeing technique which you can try at home if you catch the yarn-dyeing bug!

One skein of yarn is included in the price of the workshop, but if you wish to dye a second skein you can purchase it on the day (£13).

Maximum 6 participants per workshop.

The workshop runs from 1pm to 4.30pm and is held at the Peak District Yarns Studio and Workshop, Commercial Road, Tideswell, SK17 8NU.

Skill level:  Beginner

As always with our workshops tea, coffee and biscuits are provided (let us know on booking of any dietary requirements).

All materials you will use during the workshop are included.  You may wish to bring a notebook for making notes.  We recommend that you wear old clothing and shoes or bring your own pinny – we will be messing around with colour, after all!

Age:  You have to be at least 14 years old to attend this workshop. Participants aged under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult, who must also to be booked onto the workshop.

Cancellations by us:
Workshops may be cancelled the week before if there are insufficient numbers to reasonably justify going ahead.  We will contact you as soon as possible if cancellation is likely.

If we regrettably have to cancel the workshop for any reason, you will receive a full refund or transfer to another workshop if feasible.  If we do cancel a workshop, we cannot be held liable for any travel or accommodation costs you incur.

Cancellations by you:
If we can fill your space with another student then you will receive a full refund for the cost of the workshop.  If we can’t fill your space with another student, then you will be charged for the workshop.  The less notice you give us of your cancellation, the less likely it is that your space can be resold – please bear this in mind.
