Bleetingbecka – Lopi Undyed Yarn – Grey – 100g

Peak District Yarns is delighted to offer Bleetingbecka’s delicious lopi style yarn spun from a blend of local Jacob and Derbyshire Gritstone sheep.

The sheep live in the High Peak and are lovingly looked after by Becka.  She has farming in her blood having grown up on a farm in Chinley.  Becka started off with a few sheep from her mum’s flock but, after lambing for other people, she soon fell in love with Derbyshire Gritstone.  Her favourite tups are called Eric and Ernie!

Becka is a crafter at heart and realised how she could use her sheep’s fleece to create unique yarn.  And Bleetingbecka was born!!

This lightly plyed grey coloured lopi-style yarn knits up as aran and is undyed.  Dyers will love it as it takes the dye beautifully.  It also felts really well so can is perfect for Icelandic-style knits or felted items.

It is available either in skein form or in ball form. The balls have been spun “in the grease” so there is a fair amount of lanolin on it. With the balls, you will need to scour/wash prior to dyeing or after knitting with it when it will bloom beautifully! It is also advisable to wash any gauge swatch you do to ensure the yarn can ‘bloom’ prior to checking your tension. The yarn in the skeins has already been scoured.

100g / approx 170m.  Gentle hand wash only.
