Do you have a sewing machine and know the basics but don’t know where to turn to make the next step? Would you like learn how to use a commercial paper pattern to make a simple garment?
Come along to the WizardMakes workshop at the Peak District Yarn Studio and spend time developing your sewing skills, and become confident to take the next step. We will use a commercial pattern to make a pair of pyjama bottoms to fit either you or for you to give as a gift. We will provide the paper pattern and a range of haberdashery required to complete the project. All you need to bring is woven cotton fabric in the appropriate quantity for the size of pyjama bottoms that you would like to make. (We will advise you on the size of fabric you need to bring, or you can purchase some from us on the day of the workshop).
At the workshop we will use Janome machines from their current range. These have a speed control that allows you to grow in confidence from a steady stitcher to a fast, efficient seamstress. We will begin our class using these machines, but you are welcome to bring along your own serviced machine if you would like a bit of advice on how to use it. We will look at student machines during the afternoon tea break.
(Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a repair service for machines)
Maximum 6 participants per workshop. All materials, apart from the fabric you will need, are provided.
The workshop runs from 10am to 4pm and is held at the Peak District Yarns Studio and Workshop, Commercial Road, Tideswell, SK17 8NU. Lunch is not provided, but you are welcome to bring a packed lunch, or you can pop to one of the local cafes when we break for lunch.
